O Tempo Bono: The Good Times of Bindo Aldoviti

Sunday October 2nd, 2005 at 3:00pm, First Church in Boston (Formerly First and Second Church), 66 Marlborough Street, Boston MA

Sumptuous music of the Italian Renaissance, some from the magnificent Aldoviti palace in Rome, more treasures still from the chapels, salons, and taverns of Italy circa 1530. Works of Josquin des Près, Cipriano da Rore, Orlando di Lasso, and other masters, performed by a splendid consort of voices and instruments. A Boston area premiere!

Puer Natus Est ~ A Medieval Christmas

Saturday December 10, 2005 8pm, First Parish Church, Newbury MA

Camerata's chamber music version of this, our best-known holiday program, features five singers and players. Our performance presents magnificent medieval song and poetry from the midwinter celebration of Christ's nativity, with a look as well at the pagan celebrations of winter solstice. Countries represented include France, England, Italy, Provence, and Germany. The Boston area's only chance to hear this unforgettable music in 2005!

Camerata's beloved program of seasonal music from our own land returns by popular demand to the Boston area. Colonial hymns and anthems from New England, Shaker songs, country spirituals, and religious ballads bring us back to our true American roots and values for a joyful celebration of the Christmas in the New World.


Etoile du Nord: Mysteries and Miracles of Medieval France

A duo performance by featured Camerata soloists Anne Azema and Shira Kammen

Friday March 3rd, 2006, 8:00pm, First Church in Cambridge, 11 Garden Street, Cambridge MA

Miracles of the Virgin Mary as conceived and transmitted by the great musician poets of northern France in the thirteenth century, dances of the French jongleurs, story telling, and some North European surprising adaptations of legends from the Mediterranean world. The recorded version of this program, including several works presented in all likelihood for the first time since the Middle Ages, was released to international critical acclaim in 2003. A Boston area premiere!
