Murray Forbes Somerville
Murray Forbes Somerville, director, is Harvard's sixth University Organist and Choirmaster. Born in London, raised in Rhodesia, and educated in Munich, Oxford and New York City, he previously directed choirs in Connecticut and Florida, where he directed the Winter Park Bach Festival. He has performed organ recitals on three continents, and conducted major symphony orchestras. He is in demand as a workshop leader and guest choral conductor; in 1987 he was named an Associate of the Royal School of Church Music for his services to church music.
