We have just received the following message from Raymond Saint-Jean, director of the documentary film “A Chair Fit For an Angel,” featuring music by The Boston Camerata:

“I am happy to announce that our film has won the Grand Prix Golden Eagle from the Document.Art film festival held in Bucharest, Romania, from October 15. There were fifty films in competition and the jury chose ours as the best!”

That’s a fine honor indeed. We congratulate Ray and the Cine Qua Non Team, Tero Saarinen and his dancers, and our terrific Boston Camerata singers.

We also note that the film was shown recently on Finnish television. Let’s hope American audiences get to view it soon.

…or, more precisely, as of this morning, 801 Facebook “likes.” Of course he, like everyone else who tries to analyze/quantify Facebook statistics, is uncertain as to the ultimate import of any F.B. number whatsoever.

Nonetheless! Cybercentaur wants to thank all of those online who have decided to support Camerata’s music in this way. We blow 801 blasts on the Centaur’s little horn your way, as well as 801 cyber-kisses. Please share our posts with your friends, 801 times. And we send 8,001 wishes to all of you for a rich season of musical enjoyment.

Celebrate our 60th season and discover what delights this brand-new production has in store.

The Ludus Danielis, or Play of Daniel, is a powerful medieval mystery play composed eight centuries ago in Beauvais, France. Under Anne Azéma’s direction (music and staging), our ambitious production will combine old and new, bringing together music and movement, theater and liturgy, light and shadow.

First rehearsals got underway last weekend in Strasbourg for the December Camerata tour. Our stellar vocal soloists — Azéma, Harley, and Rentz-Moore (plus instrumental virtuosi Lazarevitch and Ansorg) will be backed up by sixteen distaff chorists from Mission Voix Alsace. It promises to be a terrific, three-concert tour.

In our photo, Anne (with hurdy gurdy) rehearses with the choral ensemble, as the early-autumn light pours into the Foyer des Etudiantes Catholiques. If you haven’t visited Strasbourg and Alsace when the sun is out, you haven’t lived…Hopla!

After a day of meetings in Strasbourg, setting up Camerata’s December tour in eastern France, Artistic Director Anne Azéma found the time to send us this early-evening digital snapshot of the city’s magnificent 13th century Cathedral. Lovely.

Alsatian friends be forewarned, there is some seriously beautiful Camerata music coming your way in a handful of weeks. Soyez attentifs, nous vous tiendrons au courant! Hopla!
