Colombia native Camila Parias sings Queen and Angel
Colombia native Camila Parias sings the roles of Queen and Angel in the Play of Daniel. She performs with La Donna Musicale, the Choir of the Church of the Advent, The Broken Consort, and Rumbarroco. Camila studied and performed with Benjamin Bagby and Sequentia at the Vancouver Early Music Festival in 2011, and last year joined Camerata for our European tour of “Borrowed Light”. She holds an M.M. from the Longy School of Music of Bard College.

Australian soprano Jane Sheldon sings the roles of Queen and Angel…
…in our Play of Daniel. She has performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Pinchgut Opera, Sydney Symphony, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Firebird Ensemble, Sound Icon, and New York’s Wet Ink. Her project The Origin Cycle won Performance of the Year (2011) at the Australian Art Music Awards. Jane’s recent album, North + South, was nominated for Best Classical Album of 2013 at Australia’s ARIA awards.

Joel Frederiksen sings the role of Darius
Joel Frederiksen sings the role of Darius, King of Persia in our Play of Daniel. Based in Munich, he’s performed and recorded with internationally recognized groups such as Huelgas Ensemble, Musica fiata, Orlando di Lasso Ensemble, Freiburger Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Gilles Binchois, Ricercar Ensemble, and many others. EMA says “….with his powerful bass voice, [he] makes a worthy Orpheus.” We are sure he’ll make a worthy Darius, too!

Rather dejected in this snapshot, Daniel sits anxiously between two rather mean-looking lions. But help is on the way! It’s old Habbakuk, on the left with his peddler’s pack, bringing our hero much-needed refreshments. Watch it all play out at Trinity Church, November 21 and 23.

Boston favorite Jason McStoots sings the role of Belshazzar, King of Iraq. He has performed with such groups as Boston Lyric Opera, TENET, Tragicomedia, BEMF, Green Mountain Project, Emmanuel Music, Les Délices, and many others. Jason teaches at Brandeis University where he recently restarted the dormant opera workshop project.
Daniel was a YOUNG dude…
…which is why the kids of Beauvais ca. 1200 could identify with him. The younger set liked to dress up and prance around and retell his story. Just a reminder on Halloween weekend:-)
