The Ludus Danielis, or Play of Daniel, is a powerful medieval mystery play composed eight centuries ago in Beauvais, France. Under Anne Azéma’s direction (music and staging), our ambitious production will combine old and new, bringing together music and movement, theater and liturgy, light and shadow.

STRASBOURG HOTLINE
First rehearsals got underway last weekend in Strasbourg for the December Camerata tour. Our stellar vocal soloists — Azéma, Harley, and Rentz-Moore (plus instrumental virtuosi Lazarevitch and Ansorg) will be backed up by sixteen distaff chorists from Mission Voix Alsace. It promises to be a terrific, three-concert tour.

Strasbourg: A Picture Postcard From Anne
After a day of meetings in Strasbourg, setting up Camerata’s December tour in eastern France, Artistic Director Anne Azéma found the time to send us this early-evening digital snapshot of the city’s magnificent 13th century Cathedral. Lovely.
Alsatian friends be forewarned, there is some seriously beautiful Camerata music coming your way in a handful of weeks. Soyez attentifs, nous vous tiendrons au courant! Hopla!
In Memory of Pierre Bec
Poitiers, France: There were wonderful tributes this day, Friday, September 12, 2014, in memory of the marvelous Pierre Bec, teacher, scholar, medievalist, poet, and good friend to so many of us. Yes, there were some tears, but also much celebration as we contemplated the richness of his intellectual and personal legacy, and as we shared memories of the many years he lived among us. May his seemingly limitless erudition, his boundless curiosity, and his intense love of life continue to inspire us.
