New to online events? Here’s what you need to know about our plan

Here you can find answers to your questions about our online production
of Dido and Aeneas: An Opera for Distanced Lovers.

As we’re sure you’ve heard, the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the artistic landscape, and everyone must put their work online until it is safe to perform in front of audiences again. We will take care of all of the complicated technological problem-solving, so that it will be as easy as possible for you to watch the show! Read on for a step-by-step explanation of how to virtually attend our online Dido.

Step One: Buy a ticket
We are using the same platform to sell tickets as we were before the pandemic, so not much has changed for this step. You can still buy a ticket for this performance the same way that you did for our performances last season: either online (click here) or by contacting the Camerata office at manager@bostoncamerata.org

We have developed a new ticket pricing system for online performances, however:  “Single” tickets are $35; student tickets, as always, are $10. We’ve also created a “Double” ticket ($50) for couples or families that will be watching the show together on the same screen.

Remember that in an online performance, you will automatically have the best seat in the house!

Step Two: Watch your email
Once you’ve bought your ticket, you don’t have to do anything else until the show becomes available for streaming on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

That day, you will receive an email from the Camerata which will contain a link and password which will allow you to watch the show starting at 6:00pm EST. The show will remain available for streaming, on-demand, whenever is convenient for you to watch it, until midnight EST on November 29.

Step Three: See the show!
We hope that everyone that is able will join us at 6:00pm EST when the video will become available. (If that isn’t possible for you, see “What if I miss the premiere?” below.)

All you need to do, whenever is convenient for you to watch the show, is:

  1. Open the email that you’ve received from the Camerata
  2. Click the link “Watch Dido and Aeneas”
  3. Click the play button on the video screen

We recommend that you watch the pre-concert talk before the show. But just like before the pandemic, the pre-concert talk is optional, and you can choose whether or not you want to hear it. Both the talk and the show will be available for you to watch whenever you like between 6:00pm EST on November 14 and midnight EST on November 29.

Frequently Asked Questions

What else is included?
In that same email, we will also send you a link to the pre-concert talk by Professor Ellen T. Harris, Professor of Music Emeritus at MIT. Directly after the show, there will be a post-concert conversation with Artistic Director Anne Azéma and lighting and media designer Peter A. Torpey.

What if I miss the premiere?
That’s OK! The show will remain available until November 29 so that you can watch it at your convenience. You can access it at any time by clicking the link that we will send you and entering the password.

If you have further questions, feel free to email Camerata Manager Caitlin Laird at manager@bostoncamerata.org.
