Adelaide MacMurray-Cooper

Adelaide (Lolly) MacMurray-Cooper grew up in Virginia, singing with John Langstaff, founder of the national Revels program. At Wellesley College, she sang in the choir and madrigal group, and at graduate school in London immersed herself in the vibrant musical scene. In her first career as a teacher and administrator at several Boston-area independent schools, she taught American and European history, and served many years on the national Revels board, and on the vestry of her church, Christ Church, Cambridge. For her second career, as a CFP (Certified Financial Planner), she taught financial planning in many adult education programs around the perimeter of Rt. 128, and maintained a private financial planning practice until her retirement in 2004, with a particular interest in empowering women in the financal sphere. Since then, she has volunteered in hospice and as a prison visitor. One reason she joined the Camerata board is that the music speaks to universal human themes, connecting us with other people, in other times, who have felt the same pleasures and survived the same pain. She is married to David Cooper. Between them, they have four sons, sixteen grandkids and two great-grands.
